Per the current owner, the canvas for the build begins with a clean 1996 Subaru Impreza Outback. The outback trim and drivetrain were removed to make way for the period correct low mileage (believed to be 55k miles) JDM Ej20G with OEM intercooler matted to a low mileage 5 speed transmission. WRX axles replace stock components and power goes through a freshly rebuilt driveshaft. STI 4 pot brakes upfront replace stock components with new slotted cross drilled rotors and pads all around.

New suspension components include fully adjustable coiler overs, sway bars and linkages (see parts list). Power is put to the ground through 17 STI BBS wheels on 225/45 speed rated tires.

Boost from the new turbo is currently running at a conservative 6 psi on OEM settings off the USDM ECU. The engine part of the build was focused on maintaining stock OEM drivability and reliability. The exhaust includes a muffler delete and sounds mean and healthy.

The stock US interior was replaced with new carpet and period correct original equipment tiger print racing bucket seats upfront with the interior redone in JDM original tiger print in back. Boost and air/fuel...

It is not every day that you can refer to a car as a shed find, but that's exactly where this one was stored for a reported 42 years which puts it on the road from 1972 to 1980. This would back up the claim by the current owner that the mileage is accurate at just over 13,000. Outside of most of the car being original with refurbished parts, the only thing aftermarket is the recently replaced carburetor. Just one year before it was announced that Datsun was changing their name to Nissan, this one still wears the classic Datsun name.
