Back in 1978, the hoopla over the Corvette Indy Pace Car stole much of the spotlight from that year's other special Corvette, The Silver Anniversary.

In case you didn't get around to buying a new '78 Corvette back in the day, here's your chance to get a virtually new Silver Anniversary edition.

The Silver Anniversary was basically a paint option on any base model Corvette and featured a two-tone Silver Metallic over Charcoal Silver lower body paint job with a pinstripe to give more folks a chance to get in on the big celebration. Unlike the Pace Car that was limited to 6,502 examples, Chevy agreed to produce as many Silver Anniversary editions as the market would bear. The introduction of the Mustang was one of the most influential periods for the automotive industry. Ford had no intention of the Mustang becoming so popular and even today the Mustang remains one of Ford's most tried and true reputations. Officially debuting at the Worlds Fair on April 11th, 1964 the Mustang took the world by storm. Some small changes were added in 1966 to distinguish the 64 1/2 - 65 year from 66's, including a new grill design, side ornaments behind the doors, wheel covers, and gas cap. The grill of the 64-65 featured a honeycomb design with four metal bars extending out in all four directions from the pony emblem. 66' did away with these bars, while also introducing a slotted grill design. The side ornaments were redesigned to signify an 'E' shape on the quarter panels behind the doors. Sun visors and round gauge clusters became standard on the Mustang as the previous version featured instrument clusters from Ford's other model, the Falcon.
