With only a little over 37,000 miles on the odometer, this unrestored 1971 Mach 1 is one of the best-preserved examples of the last of the big-block Mustangs. Better yet, this Bright Red Sports Roof car is equipped with the 429 Super Cobra Cobra Jet with functional Ram Air, 4-speed manual transmission and 4. 11:1 gearing with Detroit Locker differential. Ford Mustang performance fans, it didn't get any better in 1971. A one-year-only option for the Mustang, the 429 Cobra Cobra Jet replaced the previous FE-series 428 Cobra Cobra Jet. Based on Ford's new 385-series big-block, the new Cobra Cobra Jet was rated at 370 HP thanks to larger ports and valves in the new canted-valve heads, 760 CFM Rochester 4-barrel carburetor and 11. 3:1 compression. In Ram Air configuration, NACA-style hood scoops fed cooler outside air into the air cleaner. When ordered with the Drag Pack option, the 429 Cobra Cobra Jet was transformed into a Super Cobra Cobra Jet.
