This particular car has been built in a pro street style with a blown gas 509 Chevy big block engine backed by a turbo 400 transmission, all with less than 500 miles. The engine is a Dart block with cast iron Merlin heads, which breathe through Hooker headers and chrome side pipes. This Fastback Mustang brings back really cool memories. I can still see Steve McQueen doing that Smoky burn out in the chase scene of Bullitt. A few changes have been made to this cool old car to make it a little bit more modern. The 302 has been replaced with a 351 Cleveland with forged pistons. The automatic transmission has been replaced Toploader manual 4-speed to handle the extra power of the 351 Cleveland. 1967 would be the first time since its inception that the little pony car would get a significant change. Well actually it didn-t so much change as it just got bigger. The grille featured a larger opening as well as larger simulated air scoops on the side. Probably the most distinct change was the taillights which now consisted of 3 vertical lenses on each side of the rear deck. This particular --67 was completely disassembled and placed on a rotisserie while the freshly built 289 4 barrel was sourced. It is a true --67 -A- code motor that sounds like a small cam may have been added. In order to feed the new motor, a completely new fuel system including the fuel pump, tank, sending unit and all lines (hard and soft) were installed. With the go part taken care of the stopping side was the next on the agenda. Just like the fuel system, the brake system was brought back to life using all new parts. From the master cylinder, to the rotors, everything was replaced including all new lines, calipers and shoes. In actuality this is a Mustang GT convertible with the rally pac option with Deluxe and Pony Interior. It truly is an amazing car and has quickly become an employee favorite. The exterior is freshly painted in its original color Sahara Beige. Looking inside the car you'll notice new parchment Pony interior. Up, down and sideways this car is nearly new. The convertible top is in great shape and is white in color. You won't find any rust issues here; just solid American steel. The 1966 Mustang was only slightly restyled from the first year of production. Noticeable changes included: the floating horse in the front grill, redesigned gas cap, bright hood lip molding, back up lights, and redesigned wheels.
