BACKGROUND: From 1959 to 1990 the Buick Electra was one of the full-sized luxury cars in the General Motors family. It was named after Electra Waggoner Biggs, who was the sister-in-law of Harlow H. Curtice, former president of the Buick division and later president of General Motors. During its more than 30-year run, Electra was offered in varying body styles including coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon. It was rear-wheel drive from 1959 to 1984 and then converted to front-wheel drive (except station wagon) in 1985. The Electra was replaced by the Buick Park Avenue in 1991.

This particular 1976 Buick Electra Limited has been kept in very good condition by the current owner who has had it in their possession since 1999. The only thing that does not function as it should is the interior clock. The exterior of the body is in good condition. The Buick Riviera was a flagship for the Buick brand and this one is no exception. Convertibles came in white or red with red interior as the only option. Walking up you have a white exterior, set off by the maroon leather interior. Under the hood of this front wheel drive classic is a tried and true GM V8 engine with an automatic transmission. This car starts easily, drives well, and shifts smooth. It is quiet yet delivers on what you ask it for. The power convertible top does not work and functions as a manual top. Additionally, the AC, heat, rear windows, and power seat do not work. There is a weekend or two worth of projects with this 1983 Buick Riviera Convertible, but it is a good running car for the money!
