The rest of the interior is finished with GM bucket seats that have been recovered and also feature new foam. Jaguar certainly made their mark on the automotive industry when they introduced the E-Type. Introduced in 1961, the E-Type Jaguar had all of the cutting edge technology. Right out of the box the car was good for a top speed over 150 mph and 0-60 mph in less than 7 seconds. Technological advances included monocoque construction, disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and independent front and rear suspension. One area that Jaguar really hit the nail on the head was the styling. E-types are often referred to as some of the most beautiful vehicles ever made. This particular example is a Series 1 which are considered to be the most desirable and most beautiful. This run from 1961-1967 is known for its covered headlights. The glass headlight covers frame the front 'mouth' opening on either side. This opening is smaller on the Series 1 cars in comparison to the later cars. Other distinguishing features are the rear lights mounted above the bumpers and the exhaust exiting beneath the number plate in the rear. This Corvette is powered by the original 427. This 427 is optioned with option # 2L68AA, this is the upgrade for the 390 HP adding a Tripower intake manifold and carburetor for another 10 horsepower. This option cost an additional $105 on top of the 390's $200 cost. The sound of this Corvette is music to any car nut out there. Off road exhaust consisting of chambered exhaust mufflers exiting out the back. Receiving the power and sending it to the Posi-Traction 3. 08 rear is a Muncie M-21 Close ratio 4-speed transmission. Carrol Shelby and Ford had already worked together on the GT350 in the previous generation, so it was fitting when they came out with a GT350 for the 67-68 model years. In '67 they also introduced a big block variant labeled the GT500. The 1968 GT500s were slightly different from the previous generation as they used the 428 Cobra Cobra Jet. The top of the line Shelby for 1968 was the GT500KR. KR stood for king of the road, and with nearly 400 horsepower (despite the under rated factory figure), these cars truly were the King. Only 1,053 lucky buyers were able to hop behind the wheel of a brand new KR in '68. KRs could be had with either a 4 speed, or a C6 3 speed automatic. These cars came with wood grain interiors, power front disc brakes, and staggered rear shocks. Rocker striping labeled these cars clearly 'GT500 KR' and a nice Cobra badge on the fender gave a hint as to the Cobra Cobra Jet under the hood.
