By 1955 Chevrolet was about to produce its 50 MILLIONTH vehicle! This is an astonishing number by any standard and from our research there was no other manufacturer at the time that was remotely close to that number. Allegedly roughly 5,000 Bel Air sedans were painted in this color. Unfortunately there is no registry or anything we have available to confirm.
There was a lot of fanfare and celebration surrounding the 50 millionth car including the production of a special paint code 689 Anniversary Harvest Gold! The body tag denotes this number and is present under the hood. The vehicle is equipped with a 265 V8 and appears to be an early model based on the remote oil filter. The engine is believed, but not proved to be original. The transmission is believed to be from a 1956 model. The seller have painstakingly loved this vehicle for their 6 year tenure and are unable to enjoy it quite the same as they used to!
