Power for the Lightning comes from an SVT built 5. 8L 351 that is equipped with GT40 heads, roller camshaft, free flowing exhaust and a special tune. A 4-Speed automatic transmission transfers the power to the rear end that houses 4. 10 gears. Wheels were a Lightning only design and were aluminum 17x8 wheels. With 240 horsepower and a stump pulling 340 lbs. /ft. of torque, there's no trouble melting the rear tires if one chooses to do so. BACKGROUND: After a five-year hiatus, Ford re-introduced its retro-futuristic 11th generation (2002-2005) Ford Thunderbird according to the 1st generation formula, as a two-seat coupe/convertible layout reminiscent of the first-generation. This 11th generation Thunderbird was built on the same platform as the Lincoln LS and Jaguar S-Type. It also shared an instrument panel, steering wheel, and other trim pieces with the Lincoln LS. The sole engine of the Thunderbird was a Jaguar-designed AJ-30 3. 9 L DOHC V8, a short-stroke variant of the Jaguar AJ-26 4. 0 L V8, making 252 horsepower and 267 lbft of torque. The engine was mated to Ford's 5R55N 5-speed automatic transmission.

The F150 has a sweet 400 cubic inch motor that has 1500 miles since it has been rebuilt and sounds very nice when it fires up. It is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission that shifts smooth. Under the hood of this red 1966 Ford Mustang is a 302 V8 putting power through a second generation C4 automatic 3 speed transmission.
