Studebaker has always been a car company known for thinking outside the box aesthetically, making them great places to start for building a hot rod to stand out from the crowd in. The 1953 Starliner and Starlight are even standout vehicles for Studebaker, as it was a completely redesigned body that year. The Starliners can be differentiated from the Starlight by the -hardtop-, or pillar-less roof, and were the more expensive of the two models.
This Starliner underwent a rebirth at some time in the late 1980-s. At the time, a new 1986 model Chevy 350 crate motor was installed, and a professionally rebuilt -87 model 700r4 was bolted up to the back of it. The small block Chevy has several modifications to improve performance such as Sanderson headers leading to a 2. 5- dual exhaust with an X-pipe crossover, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and MSD fuel injection under a B&M Hi-Tek air cleaner.
