The Toyota J40 is the model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series made from 1960 until 1984 (in Brazil, where it was known as the Toyota Bandeirante, it was made from 1968 until 2001). Most 40 series Land Cruisers were built as two-door vehicles with slightly larger dimensions than a Jeep CJ. While not legal in some countries, most J40 series vehicles could have their roof and doors removed. With a folding windshield this allowed for complete open-air experience. The International Harvester Scout is an off-road vehicle which was produced by International Harvester from 1961 to 1980. A precursor of more sophisticated SUVs to come, it was created as a competitor to the Jeep, and it initially featured a fold-down windshield. The Scout and second generation Scout II were produced in Fort Wayne, Indiana as two-door trucks with options of a half cab pickup or removable hard or soft top. The Scout II is most identifiable by its different front grilles. Normally these would have came with a small V8 and were rarely optioned as automatics. Beginning production in 1948 the series I was originally designed for farm and light industrial use. With its steel box section chassis and aluminum body the original was an all around success. The only real complaint was the lack luster 50 BHP 1. 6 LTR inline 4. Discontinued in 1961 the next model would be better in nearly every aspect. Solid and built like a tank the series IIA, released in 1962, is what most people classically think of when the word Land Rover is mentioned. The 2. 25 inline 4 that was used in this line gave the series 2 a much needed advantage. This 65 is in mechanically sound condition. The underneath has no signs of rust and appears to be very solid. The exterior of the truck has been finished off in a nice Gunmetal grey that goes very nice on the Land Rover. The white rims accent the body and compliment the white roof nicely. Open the door and the huge comfy bucket seats wrapped in leather definitely look inviting but probably not what you were expecting....

From the beginning, the CJ line of Jeeps were built for the sole purposes of utility and capability. They were go anywhere vehicles. Throw it at them, and they can handle it. Their simplicity, versatility, and performance led to a following bordering on fanaticism, and has produced many great Restomods such as the one before you here. Beginning in 2003, this CJ-7 has undergone a frame-up restoration. The parts list reads more like a dream build, and will satisfy even the most intense Jeep entusiast. The entire tub is new heavy duty fiberglass that has been reinforced with Kevlar for those particularly tough trails. Rhino Liner bed spray was used throughout the top side to protect the body from the inevitable abuse that a Jeep will see. The Dana 30 front and Dana 20 rear axles are more than up to the task of spinning the 33x12. 5 General Grabber tires, and feature a Tom Woods Double Cardan driveshaft in the rear, and 2- driveshaft in the front. This Jeep has been rebuilt from the ground up and almost every nut and bolt has been replaced or refurbished, there is even a book with pictures to prove it. Along with that there are plenty of custom touches. Every bulb in the Jeep has been converted to LED. There is even a custom stand alone electrical system for the exterior LEDs and a diagram included.

The interior contains the original seats and carpet as they were in great condition. The suspension was modified with a Rough Country 4- lift, front upper and lower heavy duty control arms, 2- drop pitman arm to correct steering angle, 1- transfer case drop, heavy duty ties rods, front forged adjustable track bar with 2- drop, Dual steering stabilizer, and JKS sway bar quick disconnects. A warn transfer case skid plate was put in place for protection.

The original engine was not in need of rebuilding as the cylinder walls were perfect and wasn-t burning oil and the compression test was good. So that, the transmission, transfer case, and rear axle assemblies were removed and disassembled, cleaned, painted, and resealed before reassembly.
