Toyota started production of the Land Cruiser FJ40 in 1960 and began importing them to the US in 1963. The last US-bound FJ rolled off the line in 1983, making a brief comeback as a modern SUV in the US called the FJ Cruiser from 2006 to 2014. From 1963 to 1983 the FJ40 saw little change aesthetically, the only real changes were improvements in technology mechanically. The Classic FJs are as comfortable on a trail as they are on the highway because they were designed to do anything you could ever ask it to do and do it well. All body panels were sandblasted and/or soda blasted, which mean any rust was removed. Lots of time and detail went into this Land Cruiser. PPG sealer was applied along with PPG High fill epoxy primer, with a top coat 'Deltron Series' in Freeborn Red basecoat, followed by three coats of PPG 'DCU Series' clear coat. The top and grille's top coat was also done with PPG 'Deltron Series. ' The defining Cygnus White body seams have been resealed with 3M brand seam sealer.
