The second-generation Chevrolet Camaro was produced by Chevrolet from 1970 through the 1981model years. It was introduced in the spring of 1970. The power plant for this 1978 Camaro is a 250 cubic inch V6 that is linked to a smooth shifting 3 speed automatic transmission. The second-generation Camaro was developed without the rush of the first generation and benefited from a greater budget justified by the success of the first generation. Although it was an all-new car, the basic mechanical layout of the new Camaro was familiar, engineered much like its predecessor with a unibody structure utilizing a front subframe, A-arm and coil spring front suspension, and rear leaf springs. The Chevelle was started off the Malibu platform to be an excellent daily driver and a true family car, and was built with a trim package known as the Chevelle. This would later be taken off as a trim and made into its own model in the later 1960's.
