The PV 445 or Duet was produced by Volvo with the intent to be used as a delivery vehicle during the week and a comfortable sleek sedan on the weekends. Although the styling was based on the 444/544 sedan which were unibody design the Duet was a full frame vehicle. This example was built with a Hotrod approach with the looks of a 57 Volvo but the heart of a powerful V8. The two-tone paint is slick and gives the car a custom look without going over the top. The chromed luggage rack on top goes well with the overall theme. The custom wheels are a nice touch while hinting towards whats under the hood. Naturally a V8 is what this thing needed but you can just put a small block American motor in this thing. Having that said a Range Rover engine was sourced and built using some aftermarket parts. The end product is a rather powerful European V8. The transmission choice was obvious with the 4l60 being a readily available OD transmission that mates up to the engine with very little fab work. Chevrolet entered the truck market competitively in 1918 with the Series 490. The 490 was sold as a chassis only. Leaving the customer to create a truck cab and rear bed. Chevrolet also introduced a one -ton truck ironically called the Chevrolet Model T. It was considered the first purpose- built truck by an automobile manufacturer.
