1971 Volkswagen Beetle

View Description

The Beetle was first produced in the 1930s with the intentions of becoming the 'people's car' or Volkswagen in German. Volkswagen was the brainchild of Adolf Hitler to produce a reliable vehicle for the hardworking people of Germany, and a car that was not only inexpensive but safe to drive. In fact, the Beetle was to be mass produced and sell for 1000 Reich Marks or about $140. Unfortunately, by 1939 World War II had begun ending production of the Beetle shortly after the first car came off the assembly line. After the war ended, Allies helped resurrect the German auto industry to become a global enterprise. At first sales were slow due to the Nazi connection, but by 1975 Volkswagen was the largest vehicle importer in the United States. Reaching an incredible fifteen million units sold to date. Our 1967 Volkswagen Beetle convertible Type 1 is a fine example of the 'people's car'. The engine is an air cooled 1500cc H4 attached to a four- speed manual transmission. The hot red paint and black...

1967 Volkswagen Beetle

View Description

We love our VW bugs here, and we know that the general public and classic car nuts feel the same. It's so hard to match the reliability, ease of mechanical work and functionality of an air-cooled Volkswagen and having a sought after retractable 'Rag-Top' just adds to the appeal of this example even more! This VW comes painted in a mystical looking Porsche metallic paint that changes color depending on the light but is somewhere between gray, blue and light purple. This high-quality look elevates the car to another level and what's impressive to me is that the entire front trunk area has also been finished in the same paint, so you know that someone spent the money on a top notch painter. Exterior styling touches like Cal-Style Porsche 15' rims, chromed bumpers/trim/headlight surrounds/mirrors and of course the signature rag top look right at home on this '67 Beetle too. Inside, it's a mix of classic and modern with stock instrumentation but leather two tone bucket seats and a custom-built center console are also present. An aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette will have you rocking your favorite tunes as soon as you turn the key and everyone can hear them...

1968 Volkswagen Beetle

View Description

The Volkswagen Beetle was manufactured from 1938-1973. Remaining basically unchanged as a two-door, rear engine economy car. The Beetle was the brainchild of Ferdinand Porsche and has been marketed as the' people's car'. By the 1960's engine size had increased to 1500cc with about 53hp. The 1968 Beetle offered new features including a large rear window, a semi-automatic transmission option, independent rear suspension, new bumpers, bigger rear brakes, and the front hood release moved to the glove box. The 1960s Volkswagen Baja Bug came to life in southern California as an alternative to the dune buggy craze. Features included an open engine, big tires/wheels, fiberglass body kits, brush guards, and off -road roof lighting. The main body on the Baja is metal with a fiberglass hood, fenders, and rear flare panel. This...
