In 1946, Volkswagen was busy producing Type 1 vehicles affectionately known as the Beetle. The idea for the Bus or Type 2 was also born in 1946, however, a prototype had to wait while the German factory was flooded with Type 1 orders. Fast forward a few years to 1950 where 9,500 Type 2's were created in the first year of production. Aerodynamics were a big part of the Bus design, with drag being reduced by splitting the window and roof into the 'V' design. In 1967 Type 2's lost their distinctive split window and gained a larger engine to compensate for a little more weight. This 69 VW' Bus is that vehicle.
