Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this awesome Sunfire Yellow 1969 Plymouth Road Runner for sale. While this beast may have started out with a 383 under the hood, now it's sporting "The Mopar Legend": a custom-built, balanced, and blueprinted Gen II 426 CID Hemi, which was built by 426 Hemi Specialist Jeff Shmanske. There is too much detail to list all of the specs in this writeup, but we'll be happy to email the complete specs and parts list. What we can fit in is it's a 4.50" bore Hemi block with water jacket cooling for street use, all moving parts were fully detailed, and precision machined during the build process. It has ARP main hardware, a Melling HV oil pump, forged steel 8-bolt Hemi crank, H-beam connecting rods (ARP 2000 cap screws), custom forged 10.25:1 pistons, Moly coated rings and bearings, USA made Mopar cast iron heads (170cc chambers) with high performance valve job, premium valve springs/locks/retainers, FelPro head gaskets, high performance USA made new old stock Mopar steel rocker arms (select fit to shafts), custom ground flat tappet cam (.550 lift, 285 deg duration, similar to '68-'69 street Hemi cam), Cloyes double roller timing chain, Smith Bros. HD custom pushrods with polished cups and ball ends, and the entire rotating assembly was precision balanced and blueprinted. A 114-picture build album will come with the car, showing each part and step in the build process for the Hemi, which has only about 250 miles on it since installation. Reed's Rod Shop in California completed the build once the Hemi was delivered to them. They completely rebuilt the front suspension, added a serpentine belt system, installed a massive Ron Davis Racing aluminum radiator with electric fan, a new flywheel and clutch assembly, new bell housing, and custom fabbed the installation for the Wilwood hydraulic slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch actuator. They also rebuilt the existing A33 4-speed manual transmission, ensuring that it was built to handle the big Hemi's power. The power steering system was also rebuilt, and front disc brakes were added (along with a Wilwood Hydroboost power assist system). The wiring harnesses were replaced, as well as the fuel tank, and corresponding new fuel lines and high-volume fuel pump to support the dual-quad-equipped Hemi's appetite for fuel. The big 426 has a custom dual exhaust system, including TTI ceramic coated long tube headers and a custom-fabbed X-pipe. Out back, the Mopar rear end is outfitted with a SureGrip differential and highway friendly 3.55:1 gears. Inside, while the dash has been outfitted with a Dakota Digital TRX gauge cluster, it looks like an original (which was the intent behind the restoration - make it look like it did when it was new). The rest of the interior shows that the efforts were successful - the white synthetic leather seating, black carpet and floormats, and white headliner all look practically unused. The weather stripping and window felts are also either new or in great shape throughout. This beast rides on original-looking Magnum 500 style wheels, which are wrapped in RWL Cooper Cobra radials, finishing off the classic look and stance of this amazing 1969 Road Runner. This bad boy is one of the nicest Road Runners we've had the pleasure of offering, and with the engine "build photo album" and tons of receipts and invoices that will accompany it, you'll want this for your Mopar collection!
