Vinyl InteriorThis 1971 Chevrolet SS Nova is located in our Louisville KY showroom. 1971 was the truly the last year of American muscle. Although HP ratings were down that was really more due to the way HP ratings were read. Instead of being strictly wide open with no exhaust or accessories on the motor the new reading was taken with all accessories and exhaust on them which greatly reduces the reading. Insurance company's caught on quickly and the end was in sight. This Nova rolled out of the factory in 71 as a SS with a small block 350 under the hood. Now when you pop the hood you will see something a little different. A great looking brand new 396 big block is now mounted with a chrome package giving it a great look. With 375 horses pumping out of this power plant it truly is a force to be reckoned with. Matched up to the classic turbo 350 automatic that has been rebuilt including a new torque converter the only thing left to address was the rear end. The decision was made to go with the best GM has which is a 12 bolt posi. Filled with a set of 342 gears this bad boy can even go cruise down the highway at 70 without spinning 3 to 4 thousand RPM. Bringing all this power to a stop is a brand new disc brake set up in the front giving it a great feel. With the car now running in top shape the cosmetics were addressed. The sheet metal was in great shape since the car only had 50k miles on the body but a new SS hood was in order along with a trunk lid. The car was then painted the eye catching red that it is now of course accented with the black vinyl top keeping it period correct and making the red that much redder.
