The Coronet debuted in 1949, one of the first post war designs and was the divisions highest trim level. The name 'Coronet' comes from a crown worn by royalty. The Coronets position in trim level would change with time but the legacy wouldn't be forgotten. Push up to the mid-60s and Dodge unveiled the 5th generation model that would enter into the muscle car wars. The Coronet would see 7 generations spanning up until 1976.
