Coming to a close on the 3rd generation of Corvettes, the -78 model year was the 25th anniversary of the model. A special anniversary edition was issues, as well as a Pace Car edition with hefty premiums attached. This example is a 25th anniversary edition. The 350 V8 small block Chevy, partnered up with a 3-speed automatic, gives plenty of acceleration and surprisingly good gas mileage for a high-performance car of this era.

Slide into the silver leather seat and turn the key to start your journey. The carpeting shows minimal wear, and it is obvious that plenty of care has been taken of this classic Corvette. The T-tops look like they were just installed from the factory, the glass is all crystal clear, and the chrome still shines like new. The transmission shifts...

This big land sled is painted in a beautiful maroon color that really lets the shiny Chrome bumpers pop! Inside the car is the newly finished red Vinyl Interior with new carpets being put in just last year. It also has small carbon fiber flairs for the ash trays and front corners that look fantastic with red color. The car has its stock radio but inside the glove box is a new Pioneer Radio with CD player. The radio is connected to 2 Pioneer speakers that sit right below the rear window. While you're cruising in style turn on the cold A/C and blast some tunes for an enjoyable ride in style. Open the hood under the Beautiful airplane hood ornament and you're greeted by the original 312CID V8 mated with the Merc-o-Matic transmission. The motor was rebuilt about 6 years ago, and the power brake booster was just recently rebuilt....

The standard Corvette would have come with Chevrolets LT1 engine, making around 285 horsepower. This particular vehicle was optioned with the more powerful LT4 engine making closer to 330 horsepower. This one-year only LT4 has a slightly more aggressive camshaft, as well as sodium-filled cylinder valves which allowed for a higher redline, resulting in a larger power band. While most Corvettes of this era were fitted with an automatic, the LT4 mandated a six-speed manual transmission. This Corvette is a low-mileage example with only 26,863 actual miles on the clock. By 1964 Oldsmobile was manufacturing cars with personal luxury in mind to appeal to a growing demographic of adults that demanded high quality transportation and the Starfire fit that niche like a glove. As you look at this dream boat from bumper to bumper it is hard to not be impressed with the size and elegance but at the same time if it very easy to drive and maneuver down the road. The contrasting medium green interior has been restored nicely and those bucket seats are very firm and comfortable even on long drives. That large plastic steering wheel feels great and moves effortlessly thanks to the power steering that allows parking this classic a breeze. This 20th Anniversary Pace Car edition is #56 of only 1,555 produced and argued to be the most powerful and refined Firebird. Fitted with the same turbocharged 3. 8L V6 found in the Buick GNX paired to the 200-4R transmission that were rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago, this Trans Am has a need for speed. Pontiac rated it at 250 horsepower, but the GM factory dyno rang up 300 horsepower on a pretty consistent basis. It handles the curves in the road just as it's meant to.

The white exterior paint is believed to be mostly original and is in good condition. The camel colored leather interior is very clean as evident by the photos. The back seats fold down for added cargo space. The rear hatch has a retractable cover and hold the storage bag for the T-tops.
