This car was built to win shows, for sure; but you'll want to drive it them - it's meant to be driven! This piece of American history is powered by a 350 CID V8 that's backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Nearly everything in the engine bay that could be chromed or polished is: valve covers, A/C compressor, alternator, 4BBL carb, and the Edelbrock intake all glisten. The 350 also has a really lumpy idle, thanks to its big cam (specs unknown), and the drivetrain has only around 2,000 miles on it. This car is one of the rarest classics on the market today as the total sales included only 522 coupes and 125 convertibles! Finding one in this condition with its numbers matching drive train is near impossible. The 1959 model year saw the Hemi engines replaced by Chrysler's new Golden Lion wedge-head V8 at 413 cu in displacement (which Chrysler called 'lion-hearted'). Power output was claimed to be 380 hp! This numbers matching engine is mated to the original 3-speed automatic transmission that is actually push button operated and puts the power to the ground through a posi traction rear end! The odometer is reading 80,043 and this is believed to be the miles on the chassis, the car did undergo a frame off restoration and the drivetrain has been rebuilt to keep it running strong. During the rebuilt, a Vintage A/C system, new front suspension, new paint, new interior was all redone. This beautiful '39 Chevy Coupe has everything you are looking for. Starting with an original all steel body, the car received approximately 22 body modifications and then was sprayed in a vibrant Martin Senour GM Victory Red basecoat/clearcoat paint. The body is sitting on the original frame that was reinforced with a 1. 5' tubular front 'K' member outfitted with a Heidt's front cross member, tubular A-arms, 11' disc brakes, and 2' drop spindles. The rear of the frame was 'C' channeled to allow for rear axle clearance as it is uses a Chassis Engineering rear leaf spring conversion setup for the lowered look and a better ride quality.
