On February 20, 1954, the Ford Thunderbird was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show. Almost 7 months later, on September 9, the first 1955 Thunderbird rolled off the assembly line and by October 22 it was put for sale and sold almost immediately. More than 3,500 orders were placed within the first 10 days of the vehicle being on the market!
