This Thunderbird is painted in a rare and eye catching Emberglo with a Parchment vinyl top that was only available on the Special Landau package. The interior was also Special Landau exclusive in Parchment and Emberglo. Of the 74,972 Thunderbirds produced in 1965, only 4,500 were equipped with the Special Landau package. Ford made 2,346 more convertibles than the Special Landau, certainly making this a rare bird. Powering this Thunderbird is the original 390 cubic inch V8 with a four barrel carburetor and dual exhaust producing 300 horsepower. The Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission sent the power to the rear wheels. Slowing this heavy cruiser was much less dramatic than previous years and than most of the competition thanks to front disc brakes sporting dual piston brake calipers. Options were plentiful for this Special Landau. A reclining passenger's seat with adjustable head rest, A/C, Seat belt light in the console, Power brakes, Power steering, AM radio and of course everyone's favorite, the swing away steering column.
