This 2 dr post Chevelle 300 screams sleeper, well it definitely screams! At 1st glance, the unassuming Mountain Green paint, with matching steel wheels and the original dog dish hubcaps gives no indication of what is lurking under the hood. Stuffed under the hood is a freshly rebuilt 454 engine (finished February 2014) and backed by a brand new Performance Automatic 700R4, this Chevelle 300 is ready to roll up anybody that gets in its way. To keep the beastly 454 running cool, an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans has been installed. The exhaust gases from the aluminum headed 454 are sent through a pair of Hooker ceramic coated headers. The engine has been dressed up with a polished March serpentine engine accessories kit. Chevelle was Chevrolet's midsize car brought out in 1964 it was an instant success. Originally made to compete with Ford's Fairlane the Chevelle, for the most part, destroyed the competition. The entry level 300 series soon became many hot-rodder's go to piece. The post body gave the Chevelle a much more Rigid platform which in turn was able to handle the ever increasing horsepower that the bigger displacement motors were churning out. Much like the tri five post cars the Chevelles were able to run under the radar leaving most people thinking they were entry level 6 cylinder cars. The Chevelle was intended to compete with the Fairlane and was suppose to reflect a car similar in size to the Classic Tri Five of the decade prior. They would go down as being some of the most memorable cars of our time. Available in a number of offerings in not only body style but engine and transmission as well. You could get anything from a base model 300 coupe with a 194 CI inline 6 with a 3 on the tree to a 4 door wagon with a 327 and a 4 SPD. If you wanted it chances are it could be found in a Chevelle. This particular Chevelle is what we like to call a very nice driver. The factory blue paint is in good shape and just a little bit polish will really gleam in the sun. The Black vinyl top looks to be in excellent shape and with care will last for years to come.
