The 21st century Ford Thunderbird was a collectable the moment it hit the showroom, but some are more collectable than others. This relatively rare (having only 1000 produced) 2004 Ford Thunderbird 'Pacific Coast Roadster' stands out in a crowd while still delivering the same driving experience that keeps these cars in such high demand. Like the Neiman-Marcus and 007 special editions, the Pacific Coast Roadster edition got its own color called Monterey Mist Green, which makes the Thunderbird look sleek, not vintage. For a car that has been around for 17 years now, the finish is in very good condition, a testament to both the care it has received and the fact that it was never really used as a daily driver. Build quality on these cars was quite good, with sharp gaps all around and doors that close with a solid sound, rather well done for a car with a convertible top. This is a registered Classic 97 Cobra SVT Cobra. Virtually everything is new and upgraded using topflight name brand components. Originally a Crystal White Cobra, this one has been completely and thoroughly redone in Avalanche Gray, giving it a stealthy look. According to its owner/builder, virtually every square inch of this vehicle has been gone through. Even the wiring harness has been re-loomed with braided nylon and cloth tape. It features a freshly rebuilt 32 valve 400hp V8, featuring a forged crank, Boss rods, flat top ceramic coated pistons, Teksid block, and ARP hardware. The suspension is fully adjustable, including the IRS setup out back, and it can go from 'comfort' to 'hardcore track' with the turn of a knob on each dampener. The exhaust is nicely tucked so she doesn't scrape anywhere. This light gray Cobra is a rear-seat delete vehicle and is equipped with a super snug fitting set of high-back bucket seats that offer more than enough support under spirited driving conditions. This Thunderbird is showing very little wear for being 17 years old. This is the last year for Ford's reimagined T-bird, commemorating its introduction 50 years ago. While it's not the 50th Anniversary Special Edition, it does have the '50th Anniversary' designation emBossed in the chrome fender trim (as all 2005 Thunderbirds did). Under the hood is a 3. 9L V8 that is paired with a 5-Speed Automatic Transmission. This T-bird has just under 44K miles on it, which aligns with Carfax reported mileage. This Falcon is powered by the inline 6-cylinder Mileage Maker engine that Ford designed to achieve a staggering 30mpg! The Falcon went on to be the basis for which the legendary Mustang was based. Construction was unibody and suspension was standard with coil springs in the front and lead springs in the rear. Brakes were drums all around and a the two-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission was an additional option from the 3-speed manual that was the base transmission. The market shift which spurred the development of the Falcon, and its competitors also precipitated the demise of several well-established marques in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Edsel, Nash, Hudson, DeSoto and Packard nameplates all disappeared from the marketplace. Robert McNamara, a Ford executive who became Ford's president briefly before being offered the job of U. S. The Ford Thunderbird is an passenger car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company in the United States over eleven model generations. They spanned from 1955 all the way through 2005. When introduced, it created the market niche eventually known as the personal luxury car and then it took flight.
