This 138 series Chevelle SS has a 396 CID V8 and GM TH400 3-speed automatic. The big 396 sends its twist out back to a GM 12-bolt rear end. Atop the 396 is a Weiand Street Warrior aluminum intake manifold and Holley 4BBL carb, which help this Chevy Rat Motor breathe better than stock, making plenty of torque for launching, and plenty of power for passing those Prius drivers. Cast iron exhaust manifolds funnel the spent gases into the dual exhaust and help provide a nice muscle sound, albeit more subtly than if it had headers. A thoughtful add was the inclusion of a big aluminum radiator to help keep things running cool.
Speaking of cool, this SS 396 Chevelle comes with the bonus of Vintage Air A/C, which is a big plus for driving around when it's hot outside, or when it's super humid and one needs dehumidified air to keep the windows from fogging. The driver-quality Ermine White paint is in decent shape, with only minor discoloration and a few surface bubbles on the hood; but according to its owner, the car is sporting its 52-year old original sheet metal.
