BACKGROUND: The Coronet is an automobile that was marketed by Dodge as a full-size car in the 1950s, initially the division's highest trim line but, starting in 1955, the lowest trim line. From the 1965 to 1975 model years the name was on intermediate-sized models. A Coronet is a small crown consisting of ornaments fixed on a metal ring. The Fifth Generation Coronet (1965 - 1970) reappeared for the 1965 model year as the intermediate sized B-body using a 117-inch wheelbase. Trim levels initially were base Coronet including a Deluxe version, Coronet 440 and Coronet 500.

This is a true Skylark GS California, not a clone. However, it has been painted in the Skylark GSX motif. The black stripes have been masterfully painted on, and the entire yellow and black paint scheme has been clearcoated with numerous coats, leaving it glass-smooth. This 1968 Buick Skylark GS California underwent a rotisserie restoration at Diaz Classics in Corcoran, CA, which did the complete package. In addition to being a numbers-matching car, it also has all of its original body panels. A hood tach was added to enhance that muscle car look, as well.

Pop the hood open, and you'll find its original 350 CID V8, which is now topped by a FiTech Fuel Injection system, custom cast aluminum Buick valve covers and aluminum intake manifold. Backing the 350 is its original 2-speed Powerglide automatic, which was redone at the same time the engine was.
