In the mid-50s Volkswagen was looking to make a statement with a new car. Initially called the Type 14 it would take the chassis and mechanicals from the Type 1 Beetle and the body would be styled by Carrozzeria Ghia and built by Karmann. Over the course of nearly 20 years production would pump out nearly half a million Ghias in Germany. Here we have a '69 model. The red paint is not without blemishes but does present well overall. You could call her a 10 footer, which is great considering the paint is 35+ years old. The black vinyl interior certainly goes well with the exterior and is in good order. The convertible top looks practically new and goes well with the interior. Powering this VW is a rebuilt 1600cc 4-cylinder engine mated to a believed original 4-speed manual gear box. The current owner has had her for over 8 years. Summer 2015 this VW received new brake pads, shoes, all rubber brake lines, new gas tank, fuel pump, carburetor, new wheels and tires.
