The Jeep Wrangler began production in 1986 as the model that would replace the ageing and outdated CJ-7 model. The new model was built under a whole new set of design parameters and really the whole idea of what a Jeep could be. The Wrangler would have creature comforts that the CJ-7 Never even thought of. The suspension, drivetrain, and even interior were all borrowed from the Cherokee making for a much plusher Jeep.
