1961 Mercury Comet

View Description

Originaly released with no divisional badging It was sold thru the Mercury franchises but would not pick up the badging for another 2 years. Based on the highly successful Ford falcon but had much better trim and interior. Two trim levels were released originally the custom being the top of the line with additional chrome and all vinyl interior. This little Comet has a 302 under the hood that has a decent cam making for a decent off idle lope. The edelbrock carb feeds the small block ford just the right amount of fuel to keep the 289 running with out any issues. The modern style ac blows cold and is a nice add on. The AOD transmission allows for nice cruises down the highway. Those car shows that you never went too before are now easily obtainable with this sedan, windows up ac on and cruising in style. With the two-tone vinyl interior making a statement and going extremely well with exterior paint the white vinyl helps to bring out the true deep blue exterior...
