In 2002 Chevrolet made some very technical improvements to the Z06. Z06s had thinner windshields for weight savings, had less back pressure for the exhaust system, the camshaft had added lift and was the highest lift ever for a production small block Chevrolet, valve springs were also addressed. Even the intake and exhaust valves were redesigned for less weight that were actually hollow and filled with a liquid alloy. The list goes on all contributing to an additional 20 horsepower, 15 additional lb. -ft of torque and an angry exhaust note.
