Introduced in 1962 the gladiator series of pickup truck spent more than 26 years in production with very minimal changes to the design and mechanics. The Gladiator also was the first vehicle designed for civilian use then adapted for military duty. With a lineage like that you can expect that these Jeeps were designed and built for the toughest of situations. This gorgeous matte black Riviera is certainly a sight to behold and one that definitely wins points for being a murdered out vintage ride. In 2013 this one owner Riviera was sold to its second owner and stripped down to bare metal and painted in its current matte black. The second owner is a retired body man so the work was done correctly and all of the panels line up with amazing accuracy. The interior and engine were left stock as they were cool enough to leave in place. Under the hood sits the factory original numbers matching 425CID V8 that just got a tune up and custom exhaust. The 1949 Ford was the first new automobile design since the war featuring the iconic -pontoon- design. This design is heralded as being the one that ushered in the streamlined design phase that was predominant in the early 50-s. This fun little Sedan has been left in a very much original state minus a few upgrades to enhance the safety and comfort of the driver. Under the hood is the legendary 239CID Flat head V8 that has been rebuilt and treated to a rebuilt original Stromberg carb. There have not been any performance upgrades done to the engine and she fires up almost too easily and runs as smooth as a sewing Machine. A/C has been added from vintage air and will freeze you out of the car.
