While the 1930s were a decade of financial strain due to The Great Depression, Ford experienced remarkable success with their durable and cost-efficent trucks outselling Chevrolet in 1935 by nearly 300,000 units! These original E-Series flat nose trucks were only built from 1961 to 1967. The Econoline Pickup was a 2-door variation of the 1st Generation Ford and Mercury Econoline 3-dr vans. In the first year of production 15,000 pickups were made and sold. Its early success led to adoption from competitors including the classic Dodge A100 van and pickup models.
