In 2009, Pontiac planned to have 250 of the G8's sent off to Street Legal Performance and given the SLP Firehawk upgrade, but demand was low, and the actual production figure appears to be far less than that. From what we can deduce from various sources, it appears to be one of the (roughly) 30 SLP-modified supercharged G8's for 2009. Of those 30, the majority were the G8 GT Model, while only 9 G8 GXP's appear to have been given the SLP 'love'. The Trans Am Firehawk has always been associated with performance. In 1998 GM upgraded the good but outdated LT1 and started putting the now revolutionary LS1 in the F body-s. Ending production in 2002 these last year Firebirds have been garnering huge attention as of late and seem to be some of the best appreciating cars in the market. This example is one of the cleanest low mileage cars we have seen. The CARFAX states the mileage actual as well as a 1 owner car. This three owner, original FireHawk is in like new condition with only 56,338 miles. Pontiac decided to make the highest performance Firebird ever and created the Trans Am FireHawk edition. Created in conjunction with aftermarket engineering firm SLP, this car abandoned the old LT1 V8 and introduced the new aluminum LS1 engine to the old F-body cars. The new engine developed 345 horsepower and the car could go zero-60 in 5 seconds and cover the quarter mile in a bit over 13 seconds, extremely quick in the early 2000's. The FireHawk also featured upgraded suspension and true Ram Air induction system, hood mounted heat extractors, performance stainless steel exhaust, and it wore 275/40ZR/17 low-profile performance tires on special Firehawk alloy wheels.
