The Pontiac Firebird was introduced in 1967 and intended to compete with the Ford Mustang. The name -Firebird- actually dates back to several GM concept car designs from the 1950-s. The 1967 Firebird shared many styling cues with it-s cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro, although the Firebird-s bumpers were integrated into the design of the front end. Base models came equipped with a 230 ci inline-six engine although most buyers opted for one of three V8 options. The top of the line was a 400 cid monster shared with the Pontiac GTO and rated at 325 horsepower. This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was purchased new and spent most of its life in California where it was well kept and looks nearly as good as the day it left the showroom floor. The 351 Cleveland sitting under the hood stock was the most powerful small block you could get and put out a whopping 300 horsepower and 385 ft. lbs of torque which was plenty to get up and going in a hurry. The 351 Cleveland with the 4 valve heads were easy to identify with the -M- Code in the VIN. The 1970 Ford Mustang fastback is one of the most sought after body styles and has only increased in popularity with age. This Mach 1 has recently had a full tune up done to it including plugs, wires, rebuilt carburetor, hoses, belts, and a new battery.
