' Indeed, redesigned body mounts and radial tires did improve Corvette's ride, and interior sound levels were reduced by 40%. The chrome rear bumper was essentially carried over from the previous year. Under the hood lies a 350 CID V8 engine, L48, that produces 270 horsepower! The stout engine is backed by Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Here's the kicker, this car has 68,890 actual miles! Many will recall the LS-6 from the muscle car era that powered Chevelles and Corvettes. These were some of the most powerful engines offered in 1970-1971. GM had to make sure that the new LS6 would live up to its reputation. In doing so GM gave the new LS6 a high lift camshaft, a redline that goes up to 6,500 rpm vs. the 6,000 rpm redline for the standard Corvette. The 4th generation Corvette aimed to reclaim the sports car handling title as cars around the world started growing well beyond the reaches of the C4. Nearly every part used was different or new.
