The Galaxie was Fords direct competitor for the hot selling Chevrolet Impala. The Galaxie hit the showroom floors in 1959 during the thick of the Space Race. The name excited Americans enough to make it the new hot seller for Ford in variants from economical 6 cylinder models to high horsepower 7 Liter race versions. This particular example has the legendary Ford 390 CID V8 with a 4 barrel carburetor. Backing the V8 is a smooth shifting 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. Ford F-Series pickup trucks have been sold continuously since 1948. For the last 67 years Ford has gotten their formula right: reliable drive trains, rugged good looks, and a trim level for every budget. This 1968 F100 with the Ranger package is no exception. With a single-cab/long bed layout, and rear wheel drive, this truck would've made a great work horse in 1968. and probably still would! The truck was born with a 360 CID V8 under the hood which has been swapped with a more fuel efficient 1983 302 CID V8. Backing the V8 is a reliable C4 automatic transmission and rear wheel drive. The body was completely restored in the past year including new radiator support, new front cab mount, new cab floor supports, and new cab corners all installed by a professional body man and nicely photo documented. The list of new parts continues with new master cylinder, brake shoes, wheel seals, radiator and heater hoses, doors seals, window channels, windshield seals, and the list goes on and on. This four door Customline has a few tasteful upgrades. First is a 292 V8 out of a 1960 Thunderbird that is replacing the original 239 cubic inch V8. Giving the 292 additional power is a four barrel carburetor and a Mallory distributor. Glass pack mufflers give this car just the right sound. Not what you would expect from a stock appearing four door. Shifting gears is done through a 3-speed manual on the column optioned with a manual overdrive that is actuated via a 'T' handle under the dash. Painted in an eye catching Off White accented by a dark blue roof and a blue cloth and vinyl interior. Inside is a stock appearing interior with the gorgeous Machined turned dash and restored gauges plus an aftermarket temp gauge....

The odometer is showing only 53,372 miles and they're original! The car was purchased new in 1966 and then given to the gentleman's son in the early 80's. In 2014 the car underwent a healthy tune up that includes but is not limited to: new water pump, push rods & lifters, new filters and gaskets, fuel pump, belts & hoses, carburetor rebuild, pinion seal, u joints and radial tires.
