The Galaxie was Fords direct competitor for the hot selling Chevrolet Impala. The Galaxie hit the showroom floors in 1959 during the thick of the Space Race. The name excited Americans enough to make it the new hot seller for Ford in variants from economical 6 cylinder models to high horsepower 7 Liter race versions. This particular example has the legendary Ford 390 CID V8 with a 4 barrel carburetor. Backing the V8 is a smooth shifting 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The engine, transmission, and rear end have all been rebuilt and this car drives wonderfully. The body was repainted its original Emberglo with Wimbledon white top about 6 years ago and looks...
