The Beetle was the first car that was really designed for modern transportation. With Hitler making the first true highway system the Beetle was the car that would take Germany and its people to the world after the war. As we know that plan did not quite work out but the car would endure for decades to come. These 69 convertibles are a great example of why people love these little cars so much. This one has gone through a complete tear down and rebuild. The paint and body fitment is as nice as I have seen on a Beetle and even better than when it left the factory. In 1972 VW achieved an incredible milestone, In February of 72, when Beetle #15,0007,034 was produced. While the sheer number of beetles produced was indeed staggering it was in this year that the VW Beetle surpassed the Ford Model T for total number produced. By June 1992 there have been more than 21 million Beetles produced. Due to their inexpensive initial cost, repair cost, and ease of maintenance it's very easy to see why the bug is a perfect canvas for car guys all over the world. The sub-genre of Beetle customizations is limitless but usually revolve around a few styles such as Patina, Original German or OG, Euro, or Cali style. This AMG Silver 72 is actually a very cool combination of Euro, OG, and Cali style. The Karmann Ghia has always been a cult car. Collectors all over the world appreciate the clean lines of its timeless design, combined with the ruggedness of its Volkswagen underpinnings. The Karmann Ghia was a sports car offered by Volkswagen. The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and drive train of the Volkswagen Beetle with the Italian styling of Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by the German coach-builder Karmann. This 196 Karmann Ghia is a very driveable survivor and runs well. The original build and bodywork have withstood the test of time with flying colors. The engine in this VW is an original air-cooled 4 cylinder 1500cc engine from the VW factory and drives like you'd expect a piece of German engineering! This is a beautiful example of a Ghia, and it is about as fresh as you can ask for. The exterior is shot in a beautiful blue (paint code available) and a Tan/Oatmeal interior. Condition all the way around is good and there are no major flaws to speak of. A professional VW shop built and installed a 1835cc engine and the stock VW 4 Speed Swing Axle smoothly shifts the gears. There is a quite a list of new parts on this vehicle and we will name a few. All new rubber/weather stripping has been installed, new windshield, entire new wiring harness by Wiring Works, complete interior, new brake hoses, new steering box, and new ball joints/tire rod ends.
