This 1966 Chevrolet Nova Bracket car is for sale in our Louisville Kentucky Showroom. Bracket racing is a form of drag racing that allows for a handicap between predicted elapsed time of the two cars over a standard distance of drag racing. This Nova has been set-up specifically for the 1/8 mile drag strips in the local area. The effect of the bracket racing rules is to place a premium on consistency of performance of the driver and car rather than on raw speed, which in turn makes victory much less dependent on large infusions of money, and more dependent on mechanical and driving skill, such as reaction times, shifting abilities, and ability to control the car. Therefore, bracket racing is popular with casual weekend racers. Some will even drive their vehicles to the track, race them, and then simply drive them home. While this Nova could be driven on the street, it is not recommended. However if you are looking to get into a nice clean ready to run, that is both reliable and competitive, then this car is a great start! The engine is a 383 V8 with machine work performed by Aerohead Motors. The engine has been filled with SRP pistons (13 to 1 Compression ratio), a forged 4340 crank, large radius 4340 H-beam rods with race bearings that was balanced by Ohio Crankshaft. A full list of engine components is available upon request. There is simply too much to list! The same goes for the transmission. It is a BTE Powerglide Trans and converter with a deep pan. The rear end is a GM 12 bolt that has been narrowed with Strange axles; spool and C clip eliminators which make this rear end near bullet proof! The rear end is attached to the car with a pair of Calvert Racing leaf Springs and Shocks. Competition Engineering sub-frame connectors with back half frame rails make up the remainder of the rear suspension. Inside, you will find that this Nova is all business. You will notice an 8 point racing cage from Jegs. The cage is needed because this bracket will consistently run between 6.50 6.60 seconds, depending upon the track and conditions. A Moroso toggle switch panel takes care of anything that is electrically powered. The car is very light for even a Nova weighing in at a mere 2640 pounds. Weight savings consist of fiberglass front fenders, fiberglass hood, fiberglass trunk lid, and fiberglass bumpers. Not only is this 1966 Chevrolet Nova Bracket car fast, but it looks good doing it. Paint and bodywork was performed by Rex’s Body Shop & Garage Inc. For a complete list of items or work that has been performed on this 1966 Chevrolet Nova Bracket car, please email us at for additional details. This 1966 Chevrolet Nova Bracket car includes; One Racing Seat with padded cover, 5 point Jegs Racing harness (Seat belts) and Aluminum Alloy wheels with Racing tires.
