This particular Chevelle is what we like to call a nice show car/driver. The factory green paint has been professionally repainted using a basecoat/clear coat System. The Black vinyl top is new and with care will last for years to come. The black interior still looks new; even the black carpet is new. Under the hood you will find a completely rebuilt 454 CID V8 that has been mated to a rebuilt Turbo 400 Hydramatic transmission. Only a little bit of chrome is needed as the 454 will draw attention all by itself. A serpentine pulley system has been added to prevent belt slippage and improve the looks. A MSD ignition system has been added to insure the 454 gets plenty of spark. The 454 has a mild cam, for just a bit of grunt but nothing that is obnoxious. This 69' Chevelle SS tribute is powered by a 454 cubic inch big block Chevy V8, which has been bored. 030 over, and has less than 100 miles on the build. The overbore gives it a displacement of a monstrous 461 cubic inches! It has supporting modifications which include: Air gap manifold, four barrel carburetor, and mild performance camshaft. It sits in a highly detailed engine bay, which will catch any judges' attention at your local show. This bad boy shifts through the gears via a turbo 400, 3-speed automatic transmission. Power is then thrown to the pavement via an Auburn carrier, Richmond 4. 11 geared, posi 12 bolt rear end. The chassis is set up with power steering and power brakes, making it a great driver for any skill level! The Chevelle was introduced in 1964 and was intended to be direct competition for Ford's rather popular Fairlane. Little did they know it would wind up being one of the most memorable cars GM ever produced. The 1969 Chevelle marked the first year that the SS was just an option and not an actual line of vehicles making them very hard to document today. This Red beast definitely has the look of a SS but once you fire it up you know that this is something more. Under the hood lies an astounding 502 cubic inch big block that sounds as good as it looks. With a set of custom heads and large cam it is believed to be putting out over 500 horses. Taming all that power requires a transmission that can handle it. Having that said a Turbo 400 was sourced, built to handle the extra power and installed. 1969 was a great year for the muscle car world in general. Manufacturers were going bigger and badder than ever with hopped up 400+HP big block motors were common place. Chevy had the potent 427 which was introduced to production in Mid 65 after cleaning everyone's clock at the Daytona 500 in 63. The Chevelle offered the 427 and was an instant success with the 69 becoming even more popular the last couple of years. This 69 has been treated to a complete restoration with many things going back to its former glory. The body itself was in good shape retaining all of its original sheet metal. This gave room in the budget for the removal of the vinyl top and all of the smoothing out of the roof that goes with it.
