In 1958, four years after the birth of the Corvette, Chevrolet wanted to continue it's success with simple yet significant changes.
Contrasting the original bumpers which were fastened to the front and rear panels, the new prominent 58 Chrome bumpers were bracketed to the frame, freeing up any weight that might have been 'free-floating. ' In addition to the 'more chrome, longer body' mindset, the front end also featured two 'holes' for blasting the front brakes with air, a new technology. Chevrolet replaced the single headlight look with a dual headlight design, accentuated by a chrome body line that runs between front headlights and rear body for an elegant and refined presence.
