This rare 911 E was purchased by its current owner 15 years ago, at that time the seller, believed he was the third owner. The previous owner had the car for about ten years and drove it every weekend. The car was repainted in 2005 Porsche 'Arctic Silver' (paint code L92T) in the summer of 2005. The original color of the car was blue. The entire interior was reupholstered in Black 'German vinyl' matching covers and the seat springs/ padding was replaced. The AM/FM radio was upgraded with a new 'old school style' radio, which has a plug for iPod (in the glove box) and looks perfect in the dash. The exhaust system was replaced, and the brakes upgraded, and the dual quad Weber carbs were rebuilt. Several rubber lines were replaced with steel. The car is very stock overall. The car has been to several local Porsche Club of America (PCA) events and won a couple of awards for various 'best of' categories. The current owner also took the car to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for a PCA Drivers Education weekend. The Ford GT40 needs no introduction -- designed to be a Ferrari beater, winner of the 24 Hours of Lemans four years in a row, and the list goes on. With only around 100 original cars made, replicas with varying degrees of accuracy have been produced almost since the introduction of the original cars. Superperformance makes the best known (and most expensive) replicas today, but several smaller manufacturers have built nice examples over the years. American GT was one of those manufacturers -- they built a handful of very accurate cars in the late 1990s, supposedly derived from the KVA molds that descended directly from the Ford factory in England. This very car was the first American GT prototype and appeared in the company's brochure. Chris Bramhall, the head of American GT, drove this car for some time before he decided to cannibalize it for components to complete the second kit. Bought in 2002 as basically a shell the car was painstakingly rebuilt from either refurbished or custom manufactured parts. This 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is one of 875 total Commemorative Edition models that were released to celebrate the 250,000th 911 produced. Just 300 CE cars came to the US, and only 80 of those being Targas. This particular 911 was purchased by the seller and original owner in 1988, and has never left the DFW area. Now showing just 38442 miles, the seller describes the car as stock throughout. Power comes from an unmodified 3. 2-liter flat-six paired to a G50 5-speed manual transmission. Mostly complete service records since 1988 will accompany the sale. This Carrera is now being offered in Texas with a clear Carfax report and Original Texas Title in the seller's name.

All Commemorative Edition cars came with Diamond Blue Metallic paint and color-matched 15? Fuchs wheels. The seller states that this 911 retains all of its factory paint. Since being purchased new, the car has been stored in a heated hangar.

This Carrera retains its unique factory Fuchs alloys, and all exterior trim appears to be present.
