The Ford Ranchero was manufactured between 1957 and 1979. Built on a two- door station wagon platform intergrading a cab and cargo bed into the body. The original Ranchero was so successful that General Motors got into the Car/ pickup craze with the Chevrolet El Camino in 1959. Over its lifespan, the Ranchero was produced on compact, mid-sized and full -size platforms. Considered an alternative utility vehicle, the Ranchero took on a cult following for customers who had no interest in a full-size pickup truck.
