1955 was a great year for automobiles and Chevrolet introduced the first of a 3 part series of smaller vehicles that became known as 'Tri-Fives'. At a time when a gallon of gas was only 23 cents and the average house was around $22,000 a base model 1955 Chevrolet could be purchased new for just over $1,700. The Bel Air was the top of the Chevrolet line and those choosing that option package were treated to a luxurious interior, ample stainless and chrome trim and upgraded V8 engine option with Powerglide transmission.

From any angle the '55 Chevrolet was a crisp and clean looking car and the Bel Air was dubbed in advertising to be 'The Hot One'.
