An all new Pontiac Firebird was introduced for 1970 and represented a new high for Pontiac styling. The front bumper and grille were molded out of Endura rubber and were painted the same color as the car to give it a bumperless appearance. The sides sported rounded full wheel cut outs without any extra trim (the Camaro had more squared off wheel cut outs). The suspension was revised and a rear stabilizer bar was added. The Firebird lineup was reduced from six to four, and the convertible was eliminated. At the top was the Trans Am, which was fitted with air dams across the bottom of the front and in front of the wheels. A large decklid spoiler and small spoilers in front of the rear wheels completed the package. These aero pieces were claimed to generate 50 pounds of downforce on the front and rear of the car at highway speeds. The Trans Am featured one of the best tuned suspensions of any car (including the Corvette) and its European styling gave it instant class. After being assembled in the factory during the fall of 1967 the car was then sent to Price Frederick Motor Co. in Maryland. The car was then sold from there in December of 1968. The original owner kept the car up until 1994 when it was sold to a gentleman in Virginia. The second owner enjoyed the car until December of 2005 when the 3rd owner purchased the car. The 3rd owner gave it a frame off restoration before selling it to the current owner back in 2012. The 4th owner enjoyed it for the past 7 years, but know it is time for another lucky person to get behind the wheel of this beauty! The current odometer reads only 98,595 miles and is believed to be actual miles.

The 2nd and 3rd owner put some work into the car to get it into the shape it is today. The second owner had the engine rebuilt by a professional name Jim Taylor out of Virginia. This Firebird definitely breaks the mold of what is typically seen. Normally, one would expect to find a 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8. On this example, however, the seller opted to have a built 350 small block Chevy dropped in its place. Having been slightly warmed over, including pumping up displacement to a healthy 355 cubic inches, this baby is a screamer! Making this --Bird even more fun is the 4-speed manual transmission, giving total control of the acceleration of this beast to the driver.
