The Dodge Charger has a rich racing history that includes driving legends Richard Petty, Buddy Baker and David Pearson. The 1966 Charger was the first of the line that was essentially a fastback version of the Coronet. Updates included a new grille with hidden headlights and full-width taillamps. The unibody structure used torsion bars as a springing medium and solid rear axle on leaf springs in the back. It was offered only as a hardtop.
