1969 Dodge Charger SE
View Description
Dodge introduced the Charger for the 1966 model year to combat sales from the Ford Mustang fastback and AMC Marlin. For the first two year the Charger didn't see huge sales numbers but did forge a place in the market for a more upscale fastback car with 2+2 style seating. In 1968 all bets were off, sale of the new second generation soared to new heights! The plan was to build 35000 new '68 Chargers, by the end of the year over 96000 Chargers had hit the streets. With only minor redesigns in 1969 and 1970 the Charger was a giant hit for Dodge and a Mopar icon was born! Over those 3 years the Charge was offered in many different trim levels such as an SE, 500 and Daytona that was built to compete on the NASCAR circuit. With movies like Steve McQueen's Bullitt, The Fast and the Furious and TV shows like the Dukes of Hazzard, the second-generation Dodge Charger had become on of the most popular and sought-after muscle cars in history.
