The C series pickup was Chevrolet's pickup line in 1960. The C series pickup line lasted til 1999. The 1972 models were virtually identical to 1971 models, with the only change being the rear view mirror was attached to the windshield instead of being bolted to top of the cab where water can seep in and cause rust. The metal or vinyl-covered flat door panels were no longer available so all trim level door panels were molded plastic with integral armrests and wood grain inserts. This gorgeous 1979 Pontiac Trans Am is powered by its rebuilt 428 CID V8 engine from a Pontiac GTO, backed by a hefty Borge Warner Super T-10 4 speed transmission (fully rebuilt with a lightning flywheel), and running to a positraction rear end with 3:58 gears through a new balanced drive shaft and u-joints. With only 1,500 miles on the rebuild, there are plenty of years left of enjoyment behind the wheel of this Trans Am. The 428 Big block Pontiac under the hood is outfitted with an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, 750 CFM double pumper carburetor, Comp Cams Thumper camshaft, high volume mechanical fuel pump and dual roller timing chain set.
