1956 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
View Description
1956 was a great year for Cadillac, with many new innovations and sales steadily increasing the 10th ranked American car company was quickly gaining traction and had their sights set on number 9. The Coupe DeVille was going to be the car that got them there. Introduced originally in 1949 during the Autorama, it was built on a 'Sixty Special' chassis with a fake air scoop and chrome trim around the front wheel openings. The grill was probably the biggest redesign and could be done in either a satin finish or, as with the Bel Air's, a gold one was available. This 56 has enjoyed a much pampered life having been owned by the same family since 1959. Undergoing a complete restoration in 1981 taking 2 years to accomplish and completed in 1983 it was a very time consuming expensive build but you get what you pay for. All of the bright work was redone and still glows to this day. The motor was pulled and completely gone through with it now believed to have only about 50k miles on it and the body having just right at 100k miles. You are asking yourself how the outside can still look so...
