The 55 - 57 Bel Air has been the pinnacle of automotive excellence and is still considered to be one of the overall best cars to come out of America. Starting out as a father and son project, the original plan was to build nice solid 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback. The original painter was taking longer than expected, the car was retrieved and new plan was implemented. This Mustang has more than just an Eleanor body kit. Under the gray metallic skin is a full 2x3 inch tube frame giving this Mustang a more rigid platform which allows it, whether it be on a road course or a dragstrip, at a higher level of performance. This Eleanor rides on a full coil over suspension and has disc brakes at all four corners. Under the hood, things get real serious with a professionally built 351W engine. Utilizing a Comp Cams Thumper cam and a set of AFR aluminum heads, the 351W is up to task of making this car go. The 1967 Mustang Fastback has gone down as one of the must iconic cars of its era. The sweeping lines and big block engines available only make these cars more desirable and the reason they still bring premium money today. This example left the factory, as verified by the Marti report, with a 390 under the hood also known as an s-code. Taken done and built form the ground up the car is now packing a bored and stroked 390 with a total displacement of 445 cubic inches now giving this car a whole new level of power. This rebuilt FE big block has just over 500 miles on it since the installation. The stroked-out FE big block has dressed up with a March Pulley system. The pulley is more than just for good looks, a single serpentine belt reduces parasitic drag. Keeping the engine cool is a new aluminum radiator equipped with dual electric fans. Oh man, it's the Bubbletop. 1960 was the first of only two years for the Bubbletop and that is just a shame. These are the cars that dreams are made of. The beautiful body lines with those horizontal fins. The chrome. The huge back windshield. Everything about this car screams cool, and it just needs a cool new owner. This example is right up there with the top dogs. Restored back to factory specs, this car looks like it did in 1960.
