The Ford Torino was produced between 1968-1976 and most remembered for the red/white 1975 -Starsky & Hutch- special and several NASCAR racing adaptations. The car was named after the city of Turin, Italy (pronounced -Torino- in Italian) considered the Detroit equivalent in Italy. The Torino Cobra, fitted with a 429cid (7. 0 L) -Cobra-Jet- engine was the no-nonsense pure performance model. While the Torino GT was trimmed with a non-functional hood scoop, the 1970 429 Cobra featured a real version attached to the air cleaner assembly that protruded through a hole in the hood. This became known as a -shaker- due the fact that it vibrated when the engine was running. The 429 CJ is rated at 370 hp and includes a 2-bolt main block and hydraulic lifters.
